Allergy and Treatment with Acupuncture

Allergy is a defense mechanism of our body against foreign substances. When the foreign substance is dangerous, this response becomes a vital protective reflex. However, when harmless substances that are encountered everywhere trigger this mechanism, life can become unbearable.

When an allergic reaction initiates, swelling, itching, and discomfort follow. It can start in one place or area and spread because the allergic response mechanism exists in almost every part of our body, including the blood and tissues.

When excessive reactivity in the immune system combines with an imbalance in the involuntary nervous system, allergic predisposition occurs.

Sometimes itching on the skin begins due to the triggering of an allergen, and at times it can be caused by a substance produced by our own body. During this process, the substances causing the allergy settle in areas of our body where the capillary circulation is slow and cold. Therefore, our skin, being cooler compared to the rest of our body, is more affected. After the initial effect, our skin swells, and edema occurs. If the allergy continues to progress, it can result in a burning-like effect on the skin, leading to discharge and peeling.

Acupuncture calmes down the excessive reactivity in the defense system by addressing the root of the problem.

Acupuncture treatment restores balance in the nervous system, bringing it back to its natural rhythm within the day-night cycle. As a result, allergic reactions diminish regardless of the cause. The negative effects of allergies on our skin fade away and disappear.

The treatment usually lasts for about 12 sessions. After the halfway point of the treatment, significant positive results are usually felt. While occasional reminders may be necessary, in most cases, the outcome of the treatment lasts a lifetime.
