What is Prolotherapy?

Prolotherapy is derived from the Latin words "proliferation" and "therapy". It is an injection method that triggers the regeneration of ligaments and tendons. It is the re-stimulation of wound healing mechanisms by medical intervention (iatrogenic) by injection of solution into damaged ligaments, tendons and joints.

Prolotherapy aims to repair chronic tissue damage in the areas where our muscles that move our body gain strength or exert power. The tissue at the most critical point of the muscles is stimulated with the irritant solution used in the treatment.

What are the substances used in the treatment?

Dextrose, which is very safe for the human body and is included in the content of many serums, is used in the treatment. Dextrose is a type of sugar. This harmless molecule first irritates where it is injected. It is normal to feel pain during this stimulation, which will last for about 24 hours.

Irritation is followed by tissue awakening and a cellular repair begins. This repair slowly returns the tissue to its original state. As a stimulant substance, such as ozonized serum, substances that are entirely the body's own product can also be used.

How many sessions are done?

The standard protocol is 3 sessions. 10-15 days after the first session. The second session is applied per day. The third session is usually applied 30-45 days after the first session.
